Kirumambakkam police on Sunday registered an FIR under Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) against 40-year-old man for sexually assaulting a minor girl. He is reported to be absconding. A staff of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) said the accused Navalan alias Manikand, a resident of Madikrishnapuram, had sexually harassed the 17-year-old girl.
“When the victim’s parents found this out, they immediately complained to the CWC with the help of an activist,” the staff said.
The CWC staff said that the accused, who works as a medical staff, is now absconding.
