Once completed it will provide easy access to Amaravati

The daily ordeal for vehicle users at the busy railway level crossing at Dhamsalapuram on Khammam-Bonakal main road is expected to end soon with the decks being cleared for the construction of the much awaited Road Over Bridge (RoB) at Dhamsalapuram under the Khammam Municipal Corporation limits.

There has been long pending demand from the citizens of the town for construction of an RoB at Dhamsalapuram to ease traffic congestion and frequent chaos at the level-crossing on the Kazipet-Vijaywada section, considered one of the high-density traffic corridors in the South Central Railway Zone.

The State Government recently gave administrative sanction for the construction of an RoB at Dhamsalapuram at an estimated outlay of ₹ 77 crore.

Minister for Municipal Administration and Information Technology K.T. Rama Rao laid the foundation stone for the RoB project here on Thursday.

The Khammam-Bonakal road is a vital road link along the Telangana-Andhra Pradesh border.

A large number of motorists ply on the road to reach Vijayawada and other important towns in the neighbouring State.

Once completed, the ROB is expected to find a lasting solution to the traffic chaos on the busy road and improve road connectivity to the upcoming capital region of Amaravati in adjoining Andhra Pradesh.
