India’s Karun Chandhok, alongside Nigel Moore and Phil Hanson, used all his experience at the La Sarthe circuit to help debutant team Tockwith Motorsports finish 10th in the LMP2 class, in a frantic, dramatic and gruelling edition of this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours. The team also finished a creditable 12th in the overall classifications.
Having started the race from 21st place on the grid, the #34 Tockwith car steadily rose through the order.
Driving the Ligier Gibson JS P217, Chandhok started his work in the race at 5.15 p.m. The former F1 driver drove multiple long stints and drove a total of just under nine hours, setting the fastest lap for the team with a 3:33.875 in his first stint.
Chandhok was happy to register another top 10 finish at Le Mans. He said: “I’m very pleased to finish 10th this year. I started the race with a mammoth quintuple stint during the hottest part of the day.”
