One person was killed and six others were injured in an explosion at Kanshiram Colony in the Chhibramau area of Kannauj today, the police said here.
The incident occurred in the morning at flat number 461 of Kanshiram Colony, injuring Niraj alias Bablu (24) and six others, including two neighbours, they added.
All the injured persons were rushed to a hospital, where Niraj succumbed to his injuries during treatment, while the condition of the others was stated to be stable.
The third-floor (top floor) flat was damaged in the explosion.
Forensic teams were pressed into service subsequently to ascertain the cause of the explosion.
The neighbours told the police that crackers were being manufactured in the flat which could have caused the explosion.
