Some confusion prevailed on day-one of commercial operation of the Green Line of Namma Metro on Sunday. Passengers who had taken ticket to different stations on Green Line were asked to get down at Mantri Square Sampige station. A commuter said that people who had taken tickets to Banashankari and Jayanagar were asked to get down at Mantri Square by the BMRL staff. However, later they were asked to get on the same train and the journey resumed.
At the Vijayanagara station, commuters were allegedly told at the entrance that the ride from Majestic to Yelachenahalli station was free. Many didn't buy tickets. However, after going to the platform they were asked to buy tickets. People, including senior citizens, had to go back to the ticket counter, two-floors down. “We were told it's a free ride from Majestic, else we would have taken tickets,” said Rama Raj
At Chickpet station, commuters were forced to take the stairs as the work on escalators is ongoing. “The escalators should have been fixed before the launch,” said 60-year-old S. Janani.
But, this did not stop people from enjoying the ride in the swanky train.
A large crowd gathered at the Yelachenahalli station on Kanakapura Road. There was a long queue at the ticket counters. Swayamprabha, along with her two sons, parked her car at Lalbagh to board the first train. For Shashikala from Nagasandra, the train has got her closer to her mother’s house in Banshankari.
Happy commuters were also seen taking photos and selfies inside the coaches.
