Making it clear that the State government will not accord permission for the padayatra proposed by Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabham, Home Minister N. Chinna Rajappa on Saturday called upon the Kapu youth not to fall prey to the self-styled caste leaders.
He urged them to have confidence in Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who, he said, was keen on fulfilling all the promises made to the community during the general elections.
Addressing a press conference here, Mr. Rajappa said there was no point in giving permission to the padayatra as the intentions of the organisers were clear.
“They are trying to provoke a particular caste to create disturbances. Where is the need to launch a fresh agitation at a time when the Justice Manjunatha Commission is about to submit its report to the government?†he asked.
The Home Minister said the Kapu Corporation, set up by the government, was releasing loans to all the eligible and steps were being taken to provide employment to the youth.
“The Commission’s report will be made public and steps will be taken to improve the living conditions of the Kapus,†the Home Minister said.
Mr. Rajappa said the police would not give permission to the padayatra as it would result in law and order problems.
