The BJP's unit on Sunday held silent protest marches across the state against the egg attacks on several Union Ministers during their visits.

Covering their mouths with black tapes, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders staged silent protest in all municipalities, notified area councils and zilla parishad zones of the state.

"The frequent attacks on Union Ministers have posed a serious threat to democracy. All the attacks have been orchestrated by the ruling BJD with the cooperation of police," claimed state Vice President Sameer Mohanty.

The vehicles of union ministers Jual Oram and Radha Mohan Singh were attacked with eggs during two different occasions recently.

The party also demanded a fair probe into the gang rape and killing of a woman in Kankadahada area of Dhenkanal district.

Mohanty claimed that some people close to a senior ruling BJD leader of the area were allegedly involved in the heinous incident.
