A newborn baby girl was found abandoned near a temple in Peenya on Saturday. The locals noticed the baby wrapped in a cloth after they heard her cries, and informed the police.

A Hoysala patrol soon rushed to the spot near Nelagedaranahalli Mallikarjun temple and picked up the baby and shifted her to a hospital. The police did not find any tags or clues about who abandoned the baby. She was at least a day old and was healthy, doctors told the police.

She was then shifted to Vani Vilas Hospital where she is being nursed, the police added.
