Tina was excited about the house warming ceremony. Ever since her father had bought the new house, she was raring to move in, make new friends and even go to a new school! A bubbly and cheerful girl ever, Tina perceived something interesting in every person, who befriended her.
No change please
Tripti, the elder one resented change of any kind. She hesitated talking to new people and found it difficult to adapt to new circumstances. She hated leaving her friends behind and even dreaded the new school year. “The change will not let me enjoy the summer holidays too!” she lamented.
With the beginning of the new school year, Mr Rajan and his family shifted to the new house. Soon, the family adapted to their new surroundings. But for Tripti, the situation was different. Joining the new school made it all the more difficult for Tripti as she missed her friends. As the days passed, things got worse for her and she urged her little sister to spend time with her every evening.
But Tina, who was outgoing, found it difficult to stay at home. One evening, she announced that she was going to visit the society’s garden. Tripti was persuaded to join her. Both the girls sat on one of the benches near the trees that lined the garden.
A little later, a group of girls who were Tina’s age arrived. They entered the play area and started off with a game. Tina watched them and was soon having fun.
She said excitedly, “See that girl in red dress. She has my hairstyle. Look at the girl in pink. I think she too loves pink like me. See that girl in white. She runs as fast as me”.
Tina got up and joined the group and within minutes she was part of the group. Just then, Tripti saw a girl looking at her. She was playing badminton with another group. The girls had visited on the day of the house warming.
The girl reminded Tripti of her best friend! One by one, she found familiar traits in the girls. She realised, she was watching the group the way her sister did! The girl turned around once again and smiled at Tripti, who smiled back. The girl waved to her, signalling her to join the group. Tripti headed towards the group to make new friends.
“Now, the new school year would be lots of fun!” thought Tripti. She owed it to her little sister, who had inspired her to make new friends.
Back home, as Tripti took out something from the cupboard, her little sister came running into the room bumping into her.
“Wow! A new scrap book! What would you begin with?” asked Tina excitedly
“With the new school year I guess” said Tripti
“But I thought you didn’t like the new school!” said Tina.
“Hmmm… actually, someone doesn’t know that she has taught me how to make friends!
Tina didn’t understand what Tripti meant.
“Here goes her picture on the first page!” said Tripti
“Wow! It’s me!” exclaimed Tina.
“In that case, I think more pictures should occupy the scrap book,” said Tina cheerfully who was off to take some selfies.
