‘They have to own moral responsibility for the PG medical admission imbroglio’

The Puducherry unit of the BJP has demanded the resignation of Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy and Health Minister Malladi Krishna Rao owning moral responsibility over the Postgraduate medical admission imbroglio.

Speaking to reporters here on Saturday, BJP president V. Saminathan said that it was because of the intervention of Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi that students aspiring to pursue Postgraduate courses in deemed universities could get justice. The High Court order had come as a relief to the students, he added.

The Centralised Admission Committee (Centac) had been indulging in corrupt and anti-student practices in connivance with the government . But now the timely intervention by Ms. Bedi had saved the situation.

‘Inefficiency exposed’

The High Court judgment had exposed the inefficiency and failure of the government . The Chief Minister’s assertion that Ms. Bedi should leave Puducherry only pointed to his acceptance of his inefficiency.

When the former Lt. Governor Virendra Kataria had been at loggerheads with the previous AINRC regime, Mr. Narayanasamy had pointed out that the L-G alone had the authority in a Union Territory. But now Mr. Narayanasamy was taking the stand that it is only the elected government which had the full authority in the UT.

The suspension of two AINRC MLAs in the Legislative Assembly was highly condemnable. This only showed that Mr. Narayanasamy wanted a no opposition.

The government was saying that there was fund crunch to implement welfare schemes. But where from the money came to refurbish the offices of two Ministers, he asked.
