Chaman Saab would have to make way for Nagaraju

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday directed Zilla Parishad chairman Chaman Saab to hand over the baton to Pula Nagaraju as per the agreement reached earlier.

Reviewing the district affairs with party leaders and district in charge Minister Devineni Umamaheswara Rao, Mr. Naidu was said to have taken exception to Mr. Chaman Saab refusing to step aside even after his term to chair the ZP ended.

After the TDP won the ZP election, a truce had been brokered between the aspirants, Mr. Chaman Saab and Mr. Nagaraju, according to which the former would be at the helm for half the term and pass on the baton to the Gummagatta ZPTC member to enable him to chair the ZP for the reminder of the term.

However, Mr. Chaman Saab allegedly refused to quit even after his term ended in spite of the district leaders, to the exception of Women and Child Welfare Minister Paritala Sunita, asking him to resign.

When the issue came up for discussion, a senior TDP legislator from the district, on condition of anonymity, told The Hindu that Mr. Naidu took exception to the indiscipline in the district party unit.

Similarly, Mr. Naidu directed Puttaparthi municipal chairman P.C. Ganganna, who was recently accused of using abusive and derogatory remarks against a police officer, to put in his papers by Monday.

Mr. Naidu asked Mr. Umamaheswara Rao to ensure that Mr. Ganganna complied with the directive.
