Glowing tributes were paid in Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council today to former Governor G C Saxena, former Member Parliaments and Legislators who have passed away during the period from the last session.
The Council Chairman Haji Anayat Ali also paid rich tributes to former speaker Ali Mohammad Naik, former minister Sardar Rangil Singh, former MP Syed Nizam-ud-din, former MLAs Rishi Kumar Koushal and Shanti Devi.
While paying rich tributes to the former Governor, the Chairman said Saxena took over as the head of the Jammu and Kashmir on May 26, 1990, when the state was witnessing tumultuous times and his contribution toward the state would not go in vain. He remained in office till March 13, 1993.
Several Legislators including minister for public works and leader of the upper house Naeem Akthar also paid tributes to the former Governor, former legislators, and former MPS.
While paying rich tributes, the legislators said the deceased personalities have left an indelible mark on the socio-political history of the state.
Later, Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council adjourned the upper House sine die.
