Tight security measures are in place for the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee to the Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple in Udupi and later to the Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur on Sunday.
Mr. Mukherjee will reach the Bajpe airport in Mangaluru in the morning. He will reach Adiudupi helipad here at 11.25 a.m. and then head to the Inspection Bungalow. He will visit Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple here at noon. He will lay the foundation stone of the BRS Health and Research Institute’s Super-Speciality Hospital at Rajangana Hall in the Sri Krishna Mutt complex at 12.45 p.m.
The President will leave Rajangana and reach the Inspection Bungalow at 1.40 p.m. He will leave from here at 2.25 p.m. and reach Kollur at 3.40 p.m. He will then visit Mookambika Temple in Kollur, leave Kollur at 4.10 p.m. and reach Adiudupi helipad at 5.25 p.m. He will leave Udupi for Mangaluru at 5.30 p.m.
The security measures are so tight that all the shops on Car Street and in the vicinities of Sri Krishna Mutt and the Inspection Bungalow have been closed since Saturday morning. Shops around the Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur too have been ordered closed for security reasons.
The weekly market at Kallianpur-Santhekatte held here on Sunday had been cancelled by the District Administration. “We have made very tight security arrangements for the President’s visit,” said Superintendent of Police, K.T. Balakrishna.
Devotees will not be allowed on the Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple premises here from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday. The meals for devotees at the temple will be served after 2 p.m. Devotees will also not be allowed inside Sri Mookambika Temple from 10.30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Since the President’s cavalcade will move from Udupi to Kollur on road, the potholes on the roads have been filled.
