NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court today declined to stay the initiation of contempt of court proceedings against CRPF DG.
A vacation bench comprising Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and R K Agarwal, refused to stay the contempt proceedings against the DG, CRPF. The bench, however, granted him exemption from personal appearance in the Gauhati High Court on June 19.
The apex court said, a DIG rank officer will have to be present in the HC for the case. The matter pertains to a case filed by a former constable in the CRPF, who was removed from service for allegedly producing a false ST certificate.
The Constable then had challenged his removal from service in the Gauhati High Court, which had ordered his reinstatement. After he wasn’t reinstated despite Court orders, contempt proceedings were initiated. (AGENCIES)
