In a major embarrassment for the ruling party in the State, Congress lost they trust vote it moved against the Chairman of Legislative Council D.H. Shankaramurthy by just one vote.
The trust vote, which raised curiosity till the eleventh hour, finally tilted in favour of Mr. Shankaramurthy, with motion getting defeated by 37 votes. While 33 Congress and three Independents supported the motion, Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (Secular) and two Independents opposed the motion.
For the first time in the history of Karnataka legislative Council no confidence motion was moved against the sitting Chairman.
