Trisha Hegde of Prakash Padukone Badminton Academy was made to toil hard for her opening round win at the PSM State-ranking junior and sub-junior badminton tournament here on Tuesday.

After losing the opening game to Janani Ananthakumar of I-Sports, the top seed came back strong to clinch the tie 15-21, 21-10, 21-11 in the girls’ under-17 category.

In another game, Medha Shashidharan of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports (DYES) got the better of Stella D 21-5, 21-5 to advance to the next round. In the girls’ under-15 category, top seed Kriti Bharadwaj of the DYES hardly broke sweat and recorded a comfortable 21-11, 21-12 win over Sohini Kayal.
