Delhi continues to reel under extreme heat wave condition but what could bring respite from the scorching heat are the rains that may hit the national capital after Wednesday, June 7. The scorching temperatures rose to 47 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

The Meteorological Department experts have said that around June 7-9, a thunderstorm and squall are likely to descend.

Experts at the Meteorological Department said that a thunderstorm and squall are likely to descend upon Delhi around June 7-9. "A fresh Western Disturbance is approaching, which will induce a cyclonic circulation over central Pakistan and Punjab. A trough from this system will also extend up to Jharkhand," said a senior IMD scientist.

“Two or three spells of rain/thunderstorm accompanied with squally winds exceeding 55 kmph would occur over Delhi/ NCR region from evening of June 6 to 8. Peak rain and thunderstorm activity is likely to occur on June 7,” read an SMS sent by the regional weather department.
