After a month of hot summer, people of all walks of life came together to take part in the Happy Sunday programme organised in the city on Sunday morning. Municipal Commissioner J. Nivas joining dancers to shake a leg was the highlight of the Happy Sunday.
People of all ages including a large number of youngsters took part in the celebrations along with city corporators and officials.
Speaking on the occasion on the M.G. Road near the IGMC Stadium, Mr. Nivas congratulated the people and the organisers on making the programme a huge success and exemplary to other places.
He said the organisers including the VMC, DEEP Trust, city police and others had a minor role in the success of the programme. the lion’s share of credit must go to the people who had been taking part in large numbers every month for the past one year.
Promising all support, he called on the public to take part in the cultural and other activities part of the programme and spend quality time with friends and family.
Mr. Nivas joined the dancers on the dais briefly and danced for a mass number syncing with them.
At the IGMC stadium and the BRTS road, various sports and games and cultural performances enthralled the participants.
