VTU re-evaluation: Students on tenterhooks

more-in

Though Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) announced 60% of re-evaluation results for final year engineering students, hundreds of students, who haven’t yet got their scores, are still on tenterhooks.

Exams postponed

With the final semester exams scheduled to begin on June 12, the university is cutting it very close. University Vice-Chancellor Karisidappa said that as of Monday evening, results of 23,100 of the total 39,000 answer scripts were announced, and the remaining would be announced by Wednesday.

Last week, the university had decided to postpone all eight semester exams to June 12 as the re-evaluation results of the previous semester had not been announced.

Missed deadline

Although the university has set June 2 as the deadline to announce final year results, students say that they have not kept their word, which has increased their anxiety.

A final year engineering student said: “I had applied for re-evaluation for four subjects of my seventh semester examination held in December. But, I got the results only for three subjects.

Ravinandan B.B., State vice-president, All-India Democratic Students’ Organisation, said that many students who had their results displayed as “withheld” were yet to get their results.

‘Even’ semester examination

Professor Karisidappa reiterated that the re-evaluation results of candidates between semesters one to five would be announced on June 11, and the ‘even’ semester examination for these students would be announced from June 23.
