People continued to suffer under severe heat wave conditions in most parts of Uttar Pradesh with Jhansi being hottest in the state at 47.2 degrees Celsius.
The local MeT office said day temperature remained above normal in Varanasi, Faizabad, Lucknow, Jhansi, Meerut, Kanpur, Bareilly, Moradabad and Agra divisions.
Jhansi was followed by Banda at 46.8 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal, Allahabad 46.4 degrees Celsius, four degrees above normal, and Agra recorded a high of 45.4 degrees Celsius, three degrees above normal, they said.
Lucknow recorded a high of 42.5 degrees Celsius, three notches above normal.
Night temperatures also rose markedly in Meerut and some other divisions of the state. The lowest minimum temperature in the state was recorded at Fatehgarh with 23.6 degrees Celsius.
The weather department forecast rain and thundershowers at few places in eastern region of the state and isolated places in western Uttar Pradesh.
The state capital is likely to have partly cloudy sky , rain and thundershowers in some areas.
