Australia completely dominated proceedings during the first innings. Tamim Iqbal continued his form with the bat as he made 95 for Bangladesh but he was the only man who performed for the team. Apart from Iqbal, only Shakinb Al Hasan and Mehdi Hasan managed to get into double figures. Adam Zampa chipped away at the Bangladesh batting line-up in the middle overs. Mitchell Starc was then brought back into the attack after the 40th over. He first took the wicket of Iqbal and then took two more wickets in the same over. Starc could have got a hat-trick in the over but missed the stumps by centimetres. Starc then took the final wicket in his next over and Bangladesh fell from 181/6 to 182 all-out.
