The CISF in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation will start training programme for security personnel retiring from the force to enhance their skill-sets, a move to make available the second career option for them.
The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) today entered into a pact with NSDC towards this objective.
The move will facilitate the resettlement of security personnel through a second career post retirement.
The collaboration aims to train and provide gainful employment to retired CISF personnel and their families, school students, youth, differently-abled persons during five years starting from June 5, 2017 till June 5, 2022.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding, skill development centres will be set up focusing on sectors like handicrafts and apparel, industry related skills like mobile repairing, jewellery making, beauty and wellness, among others.
Around 500 personnel will be imparted training in the first phase of the training programme. Thereafter, key trained personnel will be detailed to impart such training to others from time to time.
The agreement also entails providing welfare to wards, family members of serving CISF personnel, retired personnel and personnel killed in action.
The retired CISF personnel having relevant aptitude will be utilised to fill the gap of trainers and assessors that are required in the field of vocational training and skill development.
Pointing out that around 3,000 personnel retire from CISF every year, Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship K P Krishnan said the objective is to harness the skills that the people in the CISF possess which they can utilise productively post retirement.
CISF Director General O P Singh that more and more of their serving and retired personnel and their families will benefit from the skill development programme.
Union Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju were present at the MoU signing ceremony here.
