The Labour Welfare Organisation under the Union Labour and Employment Ministry has decided to give scholarships annually to the children of identified Beedi and Cine workers in West Bengal.
Announcing this here today, S Chatterjee, Welfare Commissioner, Labour Welfare Organisation, Kolkata Region, said that the beneficiaries must be undergoing studies in government or government recognised schools, colleges and institutions in the state.
The number of total beneficiaries in the state would be over one lakh, he said.
Chatterjee also requested all school authorities to extend their full cooperation to make this welfare scheme successful in Kolkata Region.
