On Friday, 'Ulaganayagan' Kamal Haasan has said he will have to quit cinema as he can't afford the new GST rate.

"GST is unaffordable and ruin regional cinema.Is this East India Company?", asked Kamal Haasan on the unreasonable 28% tax , which would be imposed on filmmakers from July 1.

Kamal has said that the GST rate should be reduced by 12-15% minimum. "Regional cinema should not be put on the same slab as Hindi and Hollywood films", said Kamal Haasan.

The Vishwaroopam 2 actor has also mentioned that ticket rates can't be fixed like essential service. However, the actor welcomed one India tax and urged the Finance Ministry to cut the GST rate.



Kamal Haasan's bold statement has been welcomed by several producers in Kollywood and Tollywood.
