Six new nodal centres by Abul Kalam University of Technology

The Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology is setting up six nodal centres across West Bengal.

The centres will facilitate training and offer placement services and be spread across different districts of state, an institute press release said here today.



One of the six nodal centres will be located in the state-run Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology premises itself in Salt Lake satellite township area in the city.

The nodal centres will also act as liaison units of the University for training and placement purpose and conduct Coaching Classes for SC, ST, Minority and OBC (Non creamy layer) category students of the affiliated colleges.

Vice Chancellor of the university, formerly known as WBUT, Saikat Mitra said during the opening of a nodal centre in Kalyani last week, "We will give priority on innovation and excellence.

"As a result, the student will be benefitted both from employability point of view and from business aspect.

"A student - through nodal training - can acquire knowledge of business development and help others," he explained.

The five other nodal centres are being set up in JIS College of Engineering premises in Kalyani, Dr. B. C. Roy College premises in Durgapur, SIT college premises in Siliguri, Supreme college premises in Chandernagore, Seacom College premises in Howrah.

"With JISCE selected as the nodal centre of MAUKAT in Nadia, we will contribute in the area of modern teacher learning system, accredition training through nodal training and placement," A JIS Group spokesperson said at the inauguration.
