Chief Minister today said that the Northeast region has witnessed development after Modi led came to power at the Centre.

"Many things have happened in the region over the past three years in the field of infrastructure - rail connectivity, roads, air connectivity and electricity, he said at the headquarters here.

On the issue of infiltration, Sonowal said he has personally visited some border districts of including Dhubri, Mancachar, Karimganj and Cachar to take stock of the situation.

"We are against illegal infiltration from across the border," Sonowal said, adding that road blockade and shut down in Manipur is a cause of concern for the entire Northeast region.

Sonowal claimed that the will form the next in and end a long Marxist regime in the state.

"The Marxist regime has failed to live up to the people's expectation as the lacks vision. Due to corrupt practice in flagship programmes including MGNREGA, could not grow during the Left regime," he said.
