
Defending champion Novak Djokovic survived a five-set battle against Diego Schwartzman by overcoming a two set deficit to beat he French 5-7 6-3 3-6 6-1 6-1 and move into the last 16. Rafael Nadal also advanced with a 6-0 6-1 6-0 win over Nikoloz Basilashvili. In the women’s singles Garbine Muguruza advanced alongwith Venus Williams and Kristina Mladenovic. For India, Leander Paes crashed out after losing mixed doubles match while Sania Mirza won her match with Ivan Dodig. Rohan Bopanna also won in men’s doubles while unseeded pair of Purav Raja-Divij Sharan.
