A technical failure has brought all displays, automated announcements and the Public Transport Victoria website and app to a halt across Metro train stations in Melbourne, causing chaos among commuters.
There is a technical issue with our displays. Please listen for announcements.

Metro Trains spokesman Marcus Williams said there was a technical issue with the system that displayed information to passengers.
"Information on station screens, automated announcements at stations and information on the Public Transport Victoria website and app are affected," Mr Williams said
"The metroNotify app and on-train announcements are still working. Passengers should listen to staff announcements at station."
Confused passengers have taken to social media to vent their frustrations.

"We are very sorry to our passengers who are impacted," Mr Williams said.
He said passengers should use the metroNotify smart phone app to confirm service information.
