Sacrifices of youth forgotten, promises to people forgotten, he alleges

The Telugu Desam Party Telangana unit alleged that the three-year rule of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao Government had strengthened the finances of the persons close to him. The Government schemes in no way benefited the needy who made several sacrifices to achieve separate Telangana State.

Telugu Desam working president A. Revanth Reddy said the only success Mr. Rao could boast of is the defections engineered by the ruling party in the Opposition ranks by offering allurements. According to Mr. Reddy, the purpose for which the struggle for separate State was carried out - water, finances and jobs - was defeated as the Government could not fulfil the aspirations of the people.

“Water continues to be a scarce commodity and funds are being misused while the Government did not provide jobs to each household as assured in its election manifesto,” he said.

The Government had failed to keep its promises like double bedroom houses for the poor, loan waiver in single instalment, free and compulsory education from KG to PG and three-acre land each to each dalit family. The Legislative Assembly had passed its first resolution affirming support to the families of 1,569 people, predominantly youth, who sacrificed their lives for the cause of separate Telangana.

“Even after three years, the Government did not take up the process of identifying the families leave alone giving recognition to them,” he said. He said that the time had come for the commencement of next phase of agitation to ensure social justice to the deprived sections that were hopeful of resolution to their long pending grievances after the formation of separate State.
