Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has warned Multi-System Operators regarding placing a channel under multiple genres or assigning them more than one logical channel numbers (LCN).

This warning came after the News Broadcasters Association had complained against MSOs regarding distribution malpractices involving the newly launched English news channel Republic. It had said that some MSOs and distribution platforms were listing the channel under multiple genres in the Electronic Programming Guide and listing it on multiple LCNs.
