As Kerala continues to experience rain in the wake of an active monsoon, an off-shore trough extending from the northwest Arabian Sea towards the south is triggering more downpour in Maharashtra and Goa.

Skymet Weather said several districts in Kerala received showers of varied intensity, with Kochi recording 56 mm rain in the 24 hours between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Kozhikode and Punalur received 24 mm rain and Alappuzha 18 mm, as Skymet Weather declared monsoon to be active over the region. It added that the off-shore trough would ensure continuation of rain in Kerala and coastal Karnataka.

“In the wake of ongoing rain, we expect monsoon to cover entire Kerala and some parts of South Karnataka in the next two to three days,” Skymet Weather said.
