Sleuths of Punjab vigilance bureau today arrested a Suwidha centre in-charge for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3,000 for making a correction in a death certificate.
Yogesh Kumar Saini, in-charge of Suwidha centre Ferozepur, was caught by a vigilance team while he was accepting the bribe of Rs 3,000 from complainant Shamsher Singh for making correction in the death certificate of his brother-in-law, an official spokesman said.
The complainant later approached the bureau with his complaint.
After verifying the complaint, the vigilance bureau team laid a trap and caught the accused. The money was also recovered from him.
A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused and further investigation was under progress, the spokesman said.
