Fatal crash at Eudlo

A 25-year-old man dies after a car he was a passenger in, crashed into a tree on the Sunshine Coast on Thursday night. Vision: Sunrise

The car left the road on Magnetic Island, off Townsville, and hit a power pole on Sooning Street, at Nelly Bay, after leaving a resort on the island.

The female driver, 25, was airlifted to Townsville Hospital for treatment.

It's understood police also suspect alcohol may have been involved when a car failed to take a bend on a windy rural road in the Sunshine Coast hinterland about 8.30pm Thursday, smashing into a tree and killing a 25-year-old man in the back seat.

The 25-year-old driver and the car's front passenger were both taken to hospital after the smash, on Ilkley Road in Eudlo.

An 18-year-old man was also being treated for serious injuries after a crash on the Carnarvon Highway, near Rolleston, about 11pm.

The Forensic Crash unit is investigating all three incidents.
