Nearly 14.5 kg of gold, allegedly smuggled from Sri Lanka, was today seized at two different places in this district and three persons arrested in this connection, police said.
Based on a tip-off, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence officials seized 7.8 kg of gold from an abandoned bike near Rameswaram late last night, they said.
They also confiscated gold bars weighing around 7.7 kg near here today.
The gold could have been smuggled from Sri Lanka to India, they said adding investigation is on.
Three persons have been arrested in connection with the seizures, police said.
