For the first time in the country, a National competition in the Finn class will be held during the Hyderabad Sailing Week.
The senior multi-class sailing championship will be conducted jointly under the organising authority of the Laser Class Association of India (LCAI), the EME Sailing Association (EMESA) and the Secunderabad Sailing Club at Hussain Sagar from June 28 to July 8.
Considered the heavyweight dinghy, the Finn was designed by Rickard Skarby in 1949. It gained early acceptance into the Olympic family, making a start in the 1952 Helsinki Games and has been sailed in every regatta of the quadrennial games since then.
Competitions will be held in the a) Laser Standard in the open, youth (under 21, 19 years), apprentice master (35 to 44 years), master (45 to 54 years), grand master (55 to 64 years) and great grand master (over 65) categories; b) Laser Radial in the open, youth (under 19, 17 years) and above-mentioned age groupings; c) Laser 4.7 for under 16 and 18 years; d) 470 Class (open); e) RS:X (open); f) 49er & 49er FX (open); g) Hobie 16 (open); h) Enterprise (open) and i) Finn (open).

Fees through demand draft payable at Secunderabad, favouring EME Sailing Association, are as follows: ₹2000 for single hander class, ₹3500 for double hander and ₹2500 for registration of coaches, team manager or support team.
Schedule
The schedule will be as follows: June 28 and 29: Racing Rules seminar; June 30: press conference; July 1 and 2: Registration and measurement; July 4: Opening ceremony and practice race; July 5 to 8: Races. July 8: Prize distribution and closing ceremony.
A dozen races per class will constitute the complete series with three races scheduled each day. An additional race may held per day for scheduling reasons.
Depending on prevailing wind conditions, likely courses are trapezoid or windward/leeward loops. The low point system of scoring will be used. Competitors will participate in the championships entirely at their own risk under rule 4, titled ‘Decision to Race.’
The organising authority/host club will not accept any liability for material damage, personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the championship.
