A 28-year-old naval sailor serving in INS Garuda was today found hanging at his residential quarter here, the Navy said.

Raushan Himanshu, hailing from Muzaffarpur in Bihar, was found hanging at the sailor's married accommodation facility in nearby Mundamveli village.



He was rushed to the naval hospital INHS Sanjivani, where he was declared dead on arrival, a Navy release said.

The local police has been informed and a case of unnatural death registered in the matter, it said.

The sailor is survived by wife and eight-month-old daughter.

An inquiry into the death has been ordered by the Southern Naval Command Headquarters here, the Navy added.
