Food trucks have been doing the rounds for quite a while in ‘Namma Bengaluru’. But the compact and cheap food bikes started by Arun Varma, Krishna Varma and Nijish are relatively new to the food world.

In fact, the trio have taken a step further and given their Royal Enfield a new purpose by attaching a barbeque grill as a side car and calling it ‘BBQ Ride India’.

It was the traffic congestion and difficulty in finding parking spaces that led to this innovation. This modified bike can be ridden to the place of business and operated by a single person.

Arun Varma says, “The food truck wave started a couple of years ago in Bangalore. The number of food trucks grew to 100. We started our food truck business in 2015, but due to parking problems, narrow roads and traffic chaos, the business reached a point where we started looking for unique ways to stand out in the market. That's when we came up with the idea of using bikes instead of trucks and started ‘BBQ Ride India’.”

This custom-made Royal Enfield is more compact and convenient than a food truck. The bike is painted in military green colour which is simple yet impressive. It is equipped with everything one needs to cook and serve such as a gas cylinder, storage units, a barbeque pit and even foldable tables. The menu includes a variety of barbeque grills, rolls and burgers at pocket-friendly prices. Their most popular dishes on every route are their lamb chops, barbecue wings and pineapple wedges.

It has grown exponentially strong and successful. With 11 bikes and nine franchises in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Vijaywada and Visakhapatnam, Arun Varma thinks there would be no competition as they have managed to take their business to places their competitors couldn’t reach out to. Now they plan on expanding their franchise to Sydney and have received offers from the UK as well.With a concept so unique, it is bound to catch people’s attention easily while satisfying the foodie’s craving for amazing continental food.
