Sukhbir re-constitutes Akali Dal's core committee

In the aftermath of the debacle in the Assembly election, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) president today reconstituted the party's core committee by inducting four new members into it.

Former chief minister will continue to be the patron of the committee, an SAD spokesman said here.



The new members included in the core committee are sitting MLAs Majithia and Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Surjit Singh Rakhra and Baldev Singh Mann.

Sitting MPs Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, Balwinder Singh Bhunder and Chandumajra are among the senior members of the committee.

The core committee has a total of 26 members, including Badal and his son Sukhbir.

The newly-constituted committee will meet for the first time on June 3 at to discuss the political scenario of the state, the spokesman said.

The SAD, in alliance with the BJP, ruled for the last 10 years. In February's Assembly polls, the party was relegated to the third position with only 15 seats in the 117-member House.
