Star Sports launches first Tamil sports channel

Star Sports, the sports broadcast arm of Star India, has launched "Star Sports Tamil," the country's first Tamil sports channel.

The channel would bring fans across the State a full calendar of sports - starting with the Champions Trophy 2017, followed by the second edition of League (TNPL), VIVO Pro League Season 5 and Hero ISL, a press note said.



The channel would provide curated content localised to Tamil stars such as cricketer R Ashwin, TNPL stars and those from Chennaiyin FC.

A marketing campaign, #MachiAreYouReady (Buddy, are you ready), has commenced along with the launch of the channel.

Former captain Singh Dhoni, who is popular in the State thanks to his eight-year stint with franchise Super Kings, would feature prominently in the campaign.

The channel would feature content exclusively packaged with a line-up of eminent Tamilian hosts and commentators from the sports fraternity such as K Srikkanth, L Sivaramakrishnan, S Badrinath, S Sriram, S Ramesh and Hemang Badani.
