Cardamom prices today rose by Rs 10.80, or 1.09 per cent, to Rs 994 per kg in futures market after speculators enlarged their positions supported by good buying in the spot markets.
Furthermore, tight stocks following restricted arrivals from the major producing regions also extended support to the upmove in prices.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June rose by Rs 10.80, or 1.09 per cent, to Rs 994 per kg, in a business turnover of eight lots.
In a similar fashion, spice for delivery in far-month September gained a Re, or 0.12 per cent, to Rs 811 per kg, with a trading volume of one lot.
Market analysts said besides rise in demand in the spot markets, tight supplies from producing regions mainly helped cardamom prices to trade higher at futures trade.
