Eintracht Frankfurt have suspended Guillermo Varela from the squad after he got a tattoo against the club's advice, days before facing Borussia Dortmund in the German Cup final.
The Uruguayan joined the Eagles on loan from Manchester United and his contract expires on June 30, reports Efe.
The German club said in a statement on Wednesday that the player was tattooed on Monday, ignoring advice from coach Niko Kovac, and the tattoo became inflamed.
"This conduct is irresponsible and affects the whole team before Saturday's final", sporting executive Fredi Bobic said.
The player, who has made seven appearances with the Eagles, was hoping to stay with the German side, but the latter said that their path together has come to an end.
