In a freak accident, a major fire broke out in a fireworks factory near here today after lightning struck it, police said.
There was no casualty in the mishap that occurred late this evening after working hours at the factory in Narayanapuram here, the national fireworks hub, they said.
However, the factory suffered damage as the crackers went up in flames after the lightning struck the premises.
Police said the fire spread fast due to dry and hot conditions and was doused by fire and rescue service personnel after a more than an hour-long operation.
