Close on the heels of the arrest of a chartered accountant linked to Lalu Prasad’s family, the Income Tax (I-T) Department has summoned the RJD chief’s daughter and her husband.

The department is investigating suspected benami deals worth Rs 1,000 crore and a tax evasion case. Misa Bharti, a Rajya Sabha MP, and her husband Shailesh Kumar have been asked to appear before the investigating officer in the first week of June. The couple is said to have links with a company that had entered into benami deals for purchasing a farmhouse in Delhi.
