Two carjackers were arrested after a shoot-out with a police party yesterday, the police said.

The police recovered the car and seized two pistols and two stolen mobile phones from them, Superintendent of Police Sharma said yesterday.

He said Chauhan and Baljeet Singh, both residents of Nehtaur and alleged criminals, had hired a Etios in Moradabad for Najibabad on Wednesday after showing false identities.

They overpowerd the driver, Moradabad resident Ajit Singh, near the Bilai Canal, pushed him out of the car and sped.

The police, acting on a tip-off, surrounded the two men near Kunda.

"The accused started firing at the police party, but the police nabbed them," Sharma said.
