Kochi, May 18:
Sharp fall continued in spot pepper on Thursday following flooding of the upcountry markets with Vietnam pepper imported via Sri Lanka, market sources told BusinessLine. Imported pepper was being traded at ₹500 a kg while high range pepper was at ₹510 a kg and Pulpally and Bathery pepper traded at ₹505 a kg. About 23 tonnes were traded today. Spot prices fell by ₹600 a quintal to close at ₹51,100 (ungarbled) and ₹53,100 (garbled). Export prices were at $8,400 a tonne c&f for Europe and $8,650 a tonne c&f for the US.
