A Rayagada today sentenced a prominent to 10 years in jail and a fine of Rs 1 lakh for indulging in various terror activities.

The order was given by Rayagada District and Session Judge Biswajit Das against leader Gameli Chinna Rao alias Santu.



The stipulated that if the failed to pay the fine, he would undergo an additional jail term of one year.

Gameli, who hails from Vishakapatnam district in Andhra Pradesh, carried a reward of Rs 4 lakh on his head declared by the of that state.

He was arrested for organising for rebel activities in Rayagada and Koraput districts and was convicted under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act of 1967 and the Explosive Substance act.
