The UP Legislative Council today directed a Rae Bareli Development Authority executive engineer to appear before it on May 22 for allegedly threatening Leader of Legislature Party in the Upper House Singh.

Moving a privilege notice during the Zero Hour, Singh said, "Yesterday I received a call from S K Sinha, executive engineer of Rae Bareli Development Authority, who insulted me. I am deeply hurt by the incident and seek protection from the Chair."



Leaders of SP, and RLD demanded that the accused officer be produced before the House.

When the House re-assembled after lunch break, Naresh Chand Uttam, who was in the chair, directed the executive engineer to appear before it on May 22 at noon.

Leader of the House and Deputy Chief Minister Sharma termed the incident as "unfortunate".

He said, "Stringent action will be initiated against the accused officer. As far as presenting the officer before the House is concerned, the will abide by the orders of the Chairman.
