Three held for 'extorting Rs 17L from doctor through honey trap'

Police have arrested three men who reportedly set up a honey trap to extort Rs 17 lakh from a Mangaluru-based doctor.

Rimzi (23), a resident of Mastikatte in Ullal, Hassan Sadik Iqbal (30), of Dharmanagara in Ullal, and Narayana Salian (52), from Someshwara, had reportedly abducted the doctor on May 3, assaulted him and then captured him on camera in a compromising position with a woman.

The doctor was forced to transfer Rs 14 lakh to the bank account of Rimzi and give his credit card to the suspects who used it to shop for Rs 3 lakh, Mangaluru Police Commissioner M Chandra Sekhar told journalists on Tuesday. The doctor, whose identity wasn’t disclosed, later approached the police. A case has been registered under various sections of the IPC.
