Odisha reported its sixth sunstroke death on Tuesday, while Banda in Uttar Pradesh registered the highest temperature of 47 degrees Celsius.

Andhra Pradesh capital Amaravati, in the tri-city region comprising Vijayawada, Guntur and Tenali, sizzled at 45 degrees Celsius, while adjacent places like Nandigama in the state and Khammam across the border in Telangana also wilted under 43-44 degrees Celsius heat.

To comfort passengers from the stifling heat, the transport corporation installed a huge desert cooler in Vijayawada interstate bus stand.

In Telangana, Nalgonda registered a high of 46.4 degrees Celsius. Meanwhile, Delhi struggled under severe heat with temperatures touching 43 degrees Celsius in some parts.

Odisha reported one more sunstroke death from Bargarh district. Angul district has recorded three sunstroke deaths so far, while Bargarh witnessed two deaths and Balangir one.
