District Magistrate B N Singh today inspected roads in Jewar tehsil and on finding potholes directed their repair on priority as per the UP chief minister's orders to make roads pothole-free by June 15.
The DM visited Sikandrabad-Palwal state highway, PMGSY road from Jewar to Jhuppa, Akalpur-Hasanpur road, Jhajhar- Bhole ka Mandir road and Mehndipur-Makanpur road.
Sikandrabad-Palwal road has several potholes and Jewar- Jhuppa road is also in bad shape.
DM then inspected the Akalpur to Hasanpur Marg. Here though road was repaired in patches but quality of work was not found satisfactory.
At Jewar-Jhuppa road, overloading of vehicles was found.
DM directed officials to conduct joint operations and stop overloading of vehicles, fine the defaulters and seize their vehicles.
He also visited the Jewar toll plaza on the Yamuna Expressway and expressed concern over rising fatal accidents on the highway. He directed the expressway management to take effective steps to check accidents.
